esidents of Pari Island in Thousand Islands regency plan to visit Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan to follow up his promise to settle a land dispute between locals and private enterprise PT Bumi Pari Asri.
One of the island's neighborhood heads Edi Mulyono said the city administration had not provided a solution to the dispute even though the residents reported the case to the governor on Oct. 31.
"The administration has not responded to our report. Previously, he [Anies] said he would review and follow up the case," Edi said on Tuesday according to kompas.com.
Edi added he would request a hearing with Anies to discuss the case.
On Monday, residents clashed with the police after the latter tried to seal off the disputed land, leaving fifteen residents injured.
PT Bumi Pari Asri claims to have rights to over 90 percent of the island while most of the residents only hold girik (customary land appointment) certificates.
Some residents only hold Land and Building Tax (PBB) payment receipts and a document regarding the sale and purchase of land (AJB) as evidence of land ownership. (cal)
