Members of the Jakarta Organization of Land Transportation Owners (Organda Jakarta) are ready to rejuvenate their fleets.
Organda Jakarta head Shafrungan Sinungan said new public minivans, or angkot, would be based on an entirely new model.
“We want to provide better services for angkot passengers in Jakarta,” said Shafrungan, as quoted by Kompas on Friday.
According to Shafruhan, the new angkot will be of higher quality than the existing fleet.
The new angkot will also have a new appearance with forward-facing seats, just like in private cars. Currently, passengers on Jakarta angkot are seated sideways facing each other.
Shafrungan went on to express his expectation that the brand new angkot would encourage more Jakartans to switch from private vehicles to public transportation. (roi)
