“We will prepare safer bridges with stronger construction to replace the existing ones, so people can use them without any risk, especially children who pass them to go to school every day,” said Governor Anies Baswedan after inspecting the condition of two suspension bridges in Jagakarsa that connect the two areas on Sunday.
To start the plan, Anies said he would hold talks with the Depok administration, as the bridges straddled South Jakarta and Depok.
“Residents of both Jakarta and Depok use the bridge so the project concerns both administrations,” he added.
Anies said the planned bridges would have a permanent structure, even though they would remain suspension bridges and measure around 40 meters in length. The development project will start within the next two months. (roi)
