akarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno and Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Susi Pudjiastuti are set to compete in Lake Sunter Festival on Feb. 25, in North Jakarta, in which Sandiaga will swim and the minister will paddle across the lake.
The festival will be conducted to respond to Susi’s challenge for the city administration to restore Lake Sunter so that it be as clean as lakes in Geneva, Switzerland.
The challenge was given through a video that went viral on social media, recorded during her visit to the annual UN Forum on Business and Human Rights in Geneva last year.
Sandiaga said he hoped the competition would be conducted on the scheduled time.
He added the city administration would keep cleaning the lake for the upcoming event.
Even though the water is green, it is safe as the green color was caused by algae, he said.
“The water is not harmful. We guarantee that it is safe,” Sandiaga said on Tuesday according to kompas.com. (cal)
