T

he Jakarta Police have arrested Dhawiya Saida, daughter of Indonesia's legendary dangdut singer Elvi Sukaesih, for alleged drug abuse.

"Officers from our narcotics unit captured Dhawiya at her house in Cawang, East Jakarta, on Friday", said Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono.

The police confiscated three packs of crystal methamphetamine weighing 0.38, 0.45 and 0.49 grams each as well as a set of equipment to consume the meth.

Besides Dhawiya, the police have also named four other people as suspects, namely Dhawiya's fiancé Muhammad and two of Dhawiya's elder brothers, Syehan and Ali Zainal Abidin.

"Another suspect is Chauri Gita, Syehan's wife, who is currently six months pregnant", Argo added, noting that the suspects were at the police detainment center for questioning.

This week alone, the Jakarta Police had pulled in two other celebrities for alleged drug possession, dangdut singer Roro Fitria and actor Fachri Albar. (vla)
