A dead baby was found in a waterway in Cakung, East Jakarta, on Sunday.
Cakung Police criminal unit head Comr. Tom Sirait said the baby was discovered by a stall owner.
“The witness found a suspicious plastic bag filled with a shirt and pillowcase. The dead baby was found wrapped inside it,” Tom told kompas.com, adding that the baby had been born two days prior to being found dead.
The police have conducted a crime scene investigation and questioned witnesses, while the deceased baby has been taken to Cipto Mangunkusomo General Hospital. (jlm)
