ozens of residents from Sukadamai village in Cikupa district, Tangerang, Banten, suffered alleged food poisoning after attending a wedding in the area on Sunday.

A top official from the Tangerang Health Agency, Hendra Tarmizi, said on Tuesday that at least 78 guests attending the wedding had been referred to hospitals after experiencing diarrhea and vomiting.

Thirty nine of the 78 people are currently receiving treatment at hospitals, with 22 at Permata Hati Hospital, 16 at Hermina Bitung Hospital and one at Ciputra Hospital. The remaining 39 people only received outpatient treatment.

Hendra explained that the guests ate pempek (fish cakes), fried fish and fish curry (known locally as gulai) at the wedding.

“Food samples have been taken for further investigation,” Hendra said, as quoted by tempo.co. (vny)
