View all search resultsakarta Governor Anies Baswedan’s determination to sell the city’s 26.25 percent stake in beer manufacturer and distributor PT Delta Djakarta is only growing stronger as some question the move.
He recently said the dividend the administration had received from the brewer had not always been satisfying.
“[The business] is not that profitable. We need to invest more in clean water instead of alcoholic water,” Anies said.
The city is likely to sustain losses from the stake sale, given that the company contributed Rp 37 billion (US$2.6 million) to the city’s budget last year alone.
Jakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno supported Anies’s statement, saying the city administration was looking for a financial consultant to assist with the planned divestment.
“We’re conducting a beauty contest to look for a financial consultant who can give us suggestions about our investment in Delta Djakarta,” Sandiaga said, as quoted by kompas.com on Monday. (vla)
