The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) reportedly arrested 10 people in South Buton, Southeast Sulawesi, on Wednesday.
South Buton Regent Agus Feisal Hidayat was among the arrestees.
“Around 10 people were arrested including the regent, civil servant, consultant from a survey agency and a private party. Our team suspected that there was a transaction happening at that time and we seized around Rp 400 million (US$ 28,184) from them,” KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah said on Wednesday.
The arrestees were taken to the Bau Bau Police station for questioning. Some of them will be sent to Jakarta on Thursday for further investigation, Febri said.
"So far we suspect the money was related to several infrastructure projects,” Febri said, as quoted by kompas.com.
He declined to provide further details on the case. (hol/ahw)
