ogor regency's General Elections Commission (KPU Bogor) in West Java has ensured that the regency, which has the biggest number of voters nationwide in the upcoming simultaneous elections, is ready to hold the election.

According to the latest data, about 3.3 million residents are eligible to cast their votes to determine their leader. The figure is the highest among regencies and municipalities across the archipelago, which will conduct simultaneous elections on Wednesday.

“We’ll pay more attention to Cibinong district, because it has the highest number of additional voters,” he said at his office.

He said the highest number of voters added to the fixed-voter lists in the district came from Pabuaran Mekar and Nanggawer subdistricts, which have 4,500 and 2,000 new voters, respectively.

In total, there were an additional 12,000 voters in the regency added to the voter list, to update the list of the 2014 presidential election.

The commission has recruited over 7,000 people to update the voter list since January.

The police and security personnel have also expressed their readiness to safeguard the elections.

Five candidate pairs are vying for positions, namely Fitri Putra Nugraha-Bayu Syahjohan, who are backed by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) and Hanura; Ade Yasin-Iwan Setiawan, endorsed by the Gerindra Party, the National Awakening Party (PKB) and the United Development Party (PPP); and Ade Ruhandi-Ingrid Kansil, supported by Golkar, the Democratic Party, NasDem, the National Mandate Party (PAN) and the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS).

The two other pairs are Gunawan Hasan-Ficky Rhoma Irama and Ade Wardana-Asep Ruhiyat, who will run on independent tickets. (evi)
