ational Police chief Gen. Tito Karnavian has removed the Police Education Institute's head of administrative training, Sr. Comr. Ekotrio Budhiniar, from his post for allegedly assaulting seven subordinates.

Ekotrio was officially relieved of his duties on Wednesday after the police received reports that he beat seven officers who were on guard duty at the Police Education Institute in Bandung, West Java, a day earlier.

Ekotrio was allegedly furious when his car could not enter the academy complex as a catering service truck was about to exit through the same gate, said National Police spokesman Brig. Gen. Muhammad Iqbal as reported by kompas.com.

The guards had asked the catering truck, which was carrying meals for cadets, to back up and let Ekotrio enter.

Ekotrio allegedly got out of his car, grabbed a steel helmet from the guardhouse and hit the guards with it.

Some of the guards reportedly suffered wounds to the head.

"[He was] arrogant while trying to deal with his subordinates," Iqbal said on Wednesday as quoted by kompas.com.

A criminal investigation was launched to look into the incident.

"His criminal case is still ongoing," said another police spokesperson, Insp. Gen. Setyo Wasisto. (nor/ipa)
