embers of the Narcotics and Drug Crimes Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) at the Sarolangun and Jambi Police confiscated one kilogram of crystal methamphetamine and 435 ecstasy pills on Sunday. Two people suspected to be the owners of the drugs were taken into custody.
The two people arrested were identified as PKN, 23, a resident of Batu Putih village in Pelalawan district, Sarolangun regency, and PI, 63, a resident of Sebangar sub-district in Mandau district, Bengkalis regency, Riau.
Sarolangun Police spokesperson Second Insp. Azhar E. Lubis said the raid began at around 5:30 a.m. local time on Sunday, Satreskrim members of the Sarolangun and Jambi Police received information about a drug package delivery that would pass through Sarolangun. Responding to the information, they promptly launched a security inspection in front of the Sarolangun Police station.
They failed to arrest the perpetrators in the raid but were able to discover their identities and address in Pelawan. With the information, they launched a raid. “We caught two of them but another perpetrator ran away upstairs,” Azhar said.
He said they also found a yellow plastic bag containing powder suspected to be crystal meth, and a small bag containing a digital scale and Rp 975,000 (US$67.78) in cash. They also found another small black bag and two cell phones.
“When we raided upstairs we found a black plastic bag containing five packages of clear white powder suspected to be crystal meth weighing 1 kg, and two big packages containing 435 pink pills we suspected to be ecstasy,” he said. (swa/ebf)
