The suspect, identified only with the initial Z, was shot while resisting arrest by attacking the anti-drug officers with a sharp weapon. He was shot in his left thigh.
"The suspect died on the way to hospital," BNNP Jambi drug eradication head nAdj. Sr. Comr. Agus Setiawan said on Wednesday.
During the raid, the BNNP Jambi officers also confiscated several items of evidence, including four packages of crystal meth and four bongs. Three suspected drug users were also arrested, said Agus.
“The three people were not the owners of the evidence. They were found only using the drugs. Therefore, we will rehabilitate them,” he added.
As Z had died, Agus said, his case would be closed. However, authorities would continue additional investigations into the drug distribution network. (afr/ebf)
