View all search resultseventeen people were rushed to a hospital on Friday evening after they vomited and suffered seizures as a result of gas poisoning at a beauty clinic in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta.
The victims started to choke at 6:18 p.m. after carbon monoxide emitted from a drilling machine at a room in the shophouse where the clinic is located. The drilling machine was being used to create a well for a water pump.
“The smoke came from the drilling machine,” said North Jakarta Police chief Sr. Comr. Reza Arief Dewanto as quoted by kompas.com.
With poor ventilation as a result of an absence of windows, the gas poisoned those inside the clinic.
Reza said the police were questioning three witnesses in the case.
“We will investigate and find an explanation from the witnesses. We’ve only interviewed three. More may come forward later,” he said. (acr)
