JTS Kelapa Gading students win gold medals at 2024 Tournament of Champions

J

akarta Taipei School (JTS) Kelapa Gading, located in North Jakarta, has once again achieved remarkable success at the 2024 Tournament of Champions (TOC) held at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, the United States, from Nov. 13 to Tuesday. This annual event serves as a significant platform for students and schools to excel in educational competitions, with JTS notably securing first place in the CRIA TOP TEAMS category.

The 2024 Tournament of Champions featured participants from 60 countries, with Indonesia among the competitors that triumphed, bringing home three trophies, 23 gold medals and 42 silver medals.

A total of 12 JTS students participated in this year's Tournament of Champions. In various tournament categories, these students earned multiple gold and silver medals, marking a proud achievement for the school.

Matthew Niel Kesuma, 10, one of the participants in this year's TOC, shared his experience, saying he gained invaluable insights from the competition.

It is noteworthy that the participants previously competed in The World Scholar’s Cup (WSC), advancing from Jakarta to Seoul, South Korea, before successfully qualifying for the TOC at Yale University.

“WSC is not only about training students for global debate but also about strengthening social bonds among team members from each participant. I had an incredible experience during this competition,” said Matthew Niel Kesuma, the youngest participant in TOC 2024.

The achievements of the Jakarta Taipei School (JTS) students are attributed to the unwavering support and guidance of their teachers, who also attended the competition: Emmely Plaza Judaya, Katitah Kersaning Gusti, Nicholas Elaine Chen and Yuliana Suwarto.
