PT KCI advised commuters to use other means of transportation.
ommuter line train operations at Jatinegara and Manggarai stations were hindered Wednesday afternoon because of a fallen tree on the tracks between the two stations, causing delays and passenger buildup at the stations.
At Jatinegara Station, East Jakarta at 3:20 p.m., four commuter trains were unable to depart from the station, and passengers, particularly those heading to Bekasi, West Java could not depart as well.
“I want to leave the station and take a bus but I don’t understand [the routes]. I have to wait in this train,” a commuter, Nindya, said on Wednesday, tribunnews.com reported.
Commuter line operator PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI) spokeswoman Eva Chairunnisa apologized for the inconvenience, saying that the error happened because a tree fell on the railways between Jatinegara and Manggarai on Wednesday noon.
“Because a tree fell onto the overhead power lines at the site, trains from Jatinegara to Manggarai and vice versa cannot pass yet,” Eva said in a written statement.
She said PT KCI and PT Kereta Api Indonesia operational region 1 were onsite to handle the situation.
She warned that there would be lines of trains departing and arriving at the affected stations.
“We advised commuters to not force themselves if a train car is full and to always watch for their safety and security,” Eva said.
“For commuters that cannot wait until the maintenance is finished, PT KCI advises you to use other means of transportation,” she added. (ami)
