Jokowi considers issuing Perppu to revoke KPK Law revision

In a bid to appease protesters who have gathered on mass in recent days, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo said on Thursday he would consider issuing a government regulation in lieu of law (Perppu) to revoke the controversial revision of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Law. The Perppu, once issued by Jokowi, would still need approval from the House of Representatives to effectively revoke the newly passed KPK Law, which many have said will weaken the anticorruption body. Jokowi made the statement after meeting with legal experts and national figures, during which he received input on how to respond to the current situation.
