resident Prabowo Subianto announced that foreign hospitals and clinics will open branches and operate in Indonesia during a meeting with European Council President Antonio Costa in Brussels on Sunday
“In the past two years, we have opened various sectors for foreign participation, and now we are opening the health sector,” Prabowo said, as quoted by the Antara news agency on Monday.
“Any foreign hospitals or health institutions can open branches […] in Indonesia.”
Prabowo, who met Costa at the European Council office in the Berlaymont building in Brussels, emphasized that he wanted to see more European involvement in the Indonesian economy and Indonesia was ready to enter the European economy.

He said that Europe had various advantages in developing science and technology, as well as governance, financial and economic excellence. On the other hand, Indonesia has a wealth of mineral deposits and rare natural resources.
Therefore, Prabowo is sure that the newly agreed Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA) between the EU and Indonesia will be beneficial for both countries.
