Peruvian envoy responds Justice for Rodrigo: Demonstrators hold up signs during a protest outside Peru's Foreign Ministry building in Lima, Peru on Aug. 26 to demand justice for Rodrigo Ventosilla, a Peruvian graduate student at Harvard and activist for transgender rights, who died on the island of Bali days after being detained along with his husband for alleged cannabis possession. I

would like to refer to the news article “RI unaware of Peru request for official explanation on in-custody death of trans activist” published on the front page of the Aug. 29 edition of The Jakarta Post.

For your information, the Embassy of Peru in Indonesia and the consular section have been in contact with Indonesian authorities, including the Indonesian Foreign Ministry, regarding the Ventosilla and Marallano case.

For reasons of privacy of the case, details cannot be given at this time.
