Political leaning

The Labor Party, according to its official website, is based on the Pancasila ideology with a welfare state perspective.

History

The Labor Party was established on Aug. 28, 1998, and has participated in the 1999, 2004 and 2009 elections.

In the 1999 election, the party used the name National Labor Party with the number 37 on the ballot.

In the 2004 election, it adopted the name Social Democratic Labor Party (PBSD) and appeared as number 2 on the ballot.

In the 2009 election, the Labor Party initially did not pass the verification process. However, due to a legal challenge from four political parties that participated in the 2004 election, including the Labor Party, the Constitutional Council eventually approved their participation. It was assigned number 44 on the ballot in the 2009 election.

In 2021, under the leadership of national labor unions, the Labor Party underwent a significant transformation and adopted a new identity.

Senior labor union figure Said Iqbal was then unanimously chosen as the new president of the Labor Party.

Track record on key policies

The Labor Party does not have a single seat in the House, therefore, there is no record of its stance on key national policies.
