Pasek said that the PKN’s official ideology is Pancasila and it aims to strengthen the wawasan nusantara (archipelagic understanding) concept in governance.
The party, according to Pasek, is based on mutual collectivism among its individual stakeholders, who come from different backgrounds and expertise.
PKN was originally named the Work Development Party (PKP), which was officially founded on April 3, 2008.
The rebranding to the PKN took place in Jakarta during the PKP’s national congress held on Oct. 28, 2021.
The congress also simultaneously decided on the renewal of the party's flag and emblem, as well as adjustments to the party's internal regulations and laws.
The initial members of PKN were mostly loyalists of Anas, the former chairman of the Democratic Party who was dismissed from his position after being involved in a bribery case related to the Hambalang sports complex project corruption scandal.
The PKN does not have a single seat in the House, therefore, there is no record of its stance on key national policies.
Anas was convicted in relation to the Hambalang sports complex graft case when he was a member of the Democratic Party. He was released in April of this year after serving eight years in prison.
