Political leaning

Perindo chairman Hary Tanoesoedibjo is a business mogul in various enterprises and industries yet, surprisingly he frequently uses anti-capitalist and anti-free market rhetoric in his party speeches.

"We cannot envision Indonesia being led by a strategy of free-market economics, as this classical capitalist system rewards one party at the expense of others. While many of our people are still left behind in development, we need to create new societal classes that have never been seen before but hold potential. This can be achieved through protectionism,” Hary once said.

History

Perindo was launched as a mass organization on Feb. 24, 2013,  in Jakarta.

Later, it transformed into a political party on Oct. 8, 2014, and the official declaration of the party’s establishment took place on Feb. 7, 2015, at the Jakarta International Expo, Kemayoran, Jakarta.

The declaration event was attended by several political party leaders, including then Golkar Party chairman Aburizal Bakrie, then National Mandate (PAN) party chairman Hatta Rajasa, then Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) president Anis Matta and then United Development Party (PPP) chairman Djan Faridz.

Perindo participated in the 2019 general elections but could not secure a single seat at the House of Representatives.

Track record on key policies

Perindo does not have a seat in the House, therefore, there is no record of its stance on key national policies.
