View all search resultshe Indonesian Navy has apprehended two Filipino fishing boats in Morotai Islands, North Maluku, that are suspected of illegally entering the region's territorial waters.
"We deployed the Indonesian warship KRI Sura/802 for the interception mission," Navy spokesman Lt. Col. Indra Rerangin said as quoted by Antara news agency on Tuesday.
The first of the two illegal boats was the FB/LB Twin J-105, weighing 40 tons and registered under the name of Alan Daclan. The vessel had three crew members on board and was not carrying a catch at the time.
The second boat, the Santo Nino, weighed 22 tons and was registered under the name of Jon Oi. It was headed by a helmsman named Muin and was carrying 20 crew members. The vessel was carrying 250 kilograms of Indonesian tuna when it was intercepted.
Personnel on board the KRI Sura/802 spotted the FB/LB Twin J-105 at 7:39 p.m. local time on Friday, at a latitude of 4.46 degrees north and a longitude of 129.11 degrees east.
On the same day, the Navy personnel apprehended the Santo Nino at 8:45 p.m. local time, at a latitude of 4.24 degrees north and a longitude of 129.03 degrees east. (afr/dmr)
