The nickname came about because it sometimes takes hours for commuters to travel between Bekasi and Jakarta, or vice versa, mainly due to damaged roads that cause traffic congestion, particularly during rainy days.
The five candidates competing in the Bekasi regent election in West Java are labeling themselves with unique abbreviations to help voters remember them more easily. The candidates have also creatively utilized the abbreviations to come up with attractive slogans.
Labor activist Obon Tabroni was perplexed by a request from his comrades to seek candidacy for Bekasi regent in West Java. What a request, he thought. On May Day last year, Indonesian Metal Workers Federation (FSPMI) declared its support for Obon, the deputy president of the organization.
