View all search resultsAmid the global coronavirus pandemic, Indonesia has ensured that Muslim citizens slated to embark on this year's haj will be able to depart for Saudi Arabia as the first Indonesian haj embarkation is still on schedule for June 26.
The Association of Indonesian Muslim Intellectuals (ICMI) has suggested the government cooperate with countries that do not use their full haj quota. ICMI chairman Jimly Asshiddiqie said strengthening coordination to use vacant haj seats belonging to other countries was a positive thing and would not violate the law.
The Indonesian Embassy in Manila says it is unlikely the Philippines will repatriate the 177 Indonesian haj pilgrims arrested by Philippine authorities for passport fraud this month due to ongoing administrative procedures.
