tate-owned train operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) has launched an online pre-order meal service to cater to hungry passengers.
Ixfan Hendriwintoko, the public relations manager of PT KAI Operational Region (Daop) V in Purwokerto, said passengers could access the new feature through the company’s official website.
“The meals can be booked online at least two days prior to the departure date,” he said as quoted by Antara news agency.
Passengers can check the available menu on the pre-order page and continue to order by entering their ticket’s booking code. All the orders will be kept in the system,” Ixfan said.
The meals are priced at Rp 30,000 (US$2.30). Beverages start from Rp 6,000.

The available menu includes nasi ayam penyet (fried smashed chicken with rice), nasi goreng Parahyangan (Parahyangan-style fried rice), nasi rames (mixed rice), nasi uduk (rice cooked in coconut milk) and meals from Indonesian restaurant chains Solaria and D’cost.
Payment for the meal, which is provided by PT KAI's subsidiary PT Reksa Multi Usaha (RMU), can be done by bank transfer to PT RMU.
“This online system helps to improve the service and also increases the company's income,” said Ixfan. (kes)
