he West Sumatra Tourism Agency is holding competency certificate training from May 8 to 10 for those working in the hospitality industry.

Fifty people, either working in housekeeping, front office or food and beverage, are taking part in the three-day training, which includes familiarization, a competency test and internship.

Around 49,000 foreign tourists reportedly visited West Sumatra last year, while the number of domestic tourist arrivals to the region reached 7.3 million.

The Tourism Ministry is conducting basic tourism training in 34 provinces across the country, so far participated by 13,600 people. Additionally, the ministry’s employees are also required to take part in advanced ESQ training. (kes)
