A

giant, multipurpose dome will soon be open to the public in Pulau Peninsula in Nusa Dua, Bali, in December by the Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC).

According to kompas.com, the 21-meter-tall structure will function as a 360-degree 3D dome theater, venue space and tourist attraction.

The dome reportedly has a diameter of 42 m and will be able to accommodate up to 1,200 visitors.

ITDC deputy director Jatmiko K. Santosa is hopeful that the giant dome will be one of Indonesia’s top tourist attractions, particularly in Bali.

He said the dome would be open to the public for the next three years, with entry fees to cover the relatively high operating costs.

The giant dome was built in collaboration between ITDC and entertainment and multimedia company Oracle Projects International (OPI).

OPI previously developed the Yangzhou Event Domes in China; the G20 Communication Dome in Seoul, South Korea; and the MegaDome @ Asiatique in Bangkok, Thailand, among others. (jes/kes)
