ourism Ministry together with Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) Komisariat 86 Alumni Association recently held Creativity Day for Teachers Workshop in Belitung on Nov. 23.
A total of 285 teachers from Belitung took part in the workshop.
“The success of tourism development depends on having skilled workers,” said the Ministry’s network reinforcement department head Hidayat.
Hidayat added that the tourism education should start with teachers who play an important role in shaping up the future generation.
The workshop was conducted in Belitung since the island is one of the 10 New Balis.
During the workshop, participants were taught to be creative in educating students and to place cultural values through storytelling and songs.
“A creative individual can be shaped through a creative education that is introduced since the early age. Songs and storytelling help to implement the cultural values, additionally we also educate teachers to be active in developing the tourism awareness generation,” said ITB Komisariat 85 Alumni Association head Larasati Sedyaningsih.
