ourists from Singapore, Malaysia, Denmark, Philippines, Japan and Korea came to watch the Orchid Country Club (OCC) Golf Tournament 2017 that was held in Nongsa, Batam on Nov. 25 – 26.
“There were a total of 183 international tourists, 83 of them participated in (OCC) whilst the other 100 were from Korea who especially came to Batam to play golf. Our hotel was fully booked,” said Nongsa Sensation Batam Island chairman, Anddy Fong.
The location of the tournament was at Palm Spring Golf & Country Club. The golf course at this place was designed by Jack Nicklaus that is known to have designed 32,000 golf courses all over the world.
Other than golf tournaments, Nongsa also hosts music events. Nongsa has previously hosted Santana Concert, Asia’s Band Premiere Jive Talkin and Tribute to Gloria Estefan.
Tourism minister, Arief Yahya expressed his gratitude for the tourist visit, "Thank you for the tourists who chose Nongsa, Batam as their destination. This proves that to have a good trip, one does not have to travel far. For Singaporeans or Malaysians, Batam can serve as a good destination." (asw)
