The Tourism Ministry is going to hold Wonderful Indonesia Festival Vietnam 2017 at AEON Mall Tan Phu Celadon, Vietnam, on Dec. 8-10.
Vietnam is a potential market for tourism in Indonesia as both countries are in Southeast Asia thus tourists from Vietnam don’t have to apply for a visa before entering Indonesia, and the travel duration between Vietnam and Indonesia is less than 10 hours.
The location of the event is one of the biggest shopping malls in South Vietnam. This event will focus on continuing the promotional program that focuses on branding and advertising and maintaining the presence of tourism in Indonesia in the Southeast Asian region.
For this event, the ministry is going to hold a media conference and conduct a co-branding agreement with ride-hailing app Grab Vietnam.
“Prior to Wonderful Indonesia Festival, we are going to hold a media conference with Vietnamese media on Dec. 6. We will also do a joint promotion with Grab Vietnam by placing Wonderful Indonesia logo on Grab Motor helmets. We are also introducing Batam and Bintan and hot deals program,” explained the ministry's Southeast Asia tourism promotion assistant deputy, Rizki Handayani.
Moreover, Wonderful Indonesia Festival ads will be displayed on Grab application and the Ministry is creating a promotional code in which Grab users can exchange their points for souvenirs during the festival.

At the booth, the ministry will provide information regarding Indonesian culture, tourist attractions and food.
Vietnamese singer Isaac has also been invited to perform there.
Tourism Minister Arief Yahya said that targeting the Vietnamese market serves as a strategic move since the country is among the top seven fastest growing travel destinations according to the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
“There are plenty of attractions in Indonesia such as Bali, Bandung, Jakarta and Surabaya. These four cities are popular among Vietnamese tourists. There’s also Joglosemar [Yogyakarta, Solo and Semarang] that is home to Borobudur Temple, which is also a legendary site among tourists from Vietnam,” told Arief. (kes)
