South Pesisir to lure tourists with Portuguese-inspired tourism

Portuguese-inspired tourist attraction is to be developed on Cingkuak Island in South Pesisir regency, West Sumatra province, in a bid to lure more visitors.
"The presence of a Portuguese fort on Cingkuak Island is a good start to develop Portuguese-inspired tourism," said South Pesisir Regent Hendrajoni on Monday as quoted by Antara.
To support the plans, the administration is to restore the fort and build other Portuguese-style buildings in the area, which is part of the Carocok Painan Beach tourism complex.

Portuguese-inspired costumes for men and women of all sizes are to be prepared as well, he said, adding such a move should offer a new attraction for tourists, aside from the already available white sandy beach and water playground.
"They can also hop on special boats for tourists that will be built exactly like Portuguese ships," he added.
Cingkuak Island is about 10 minutes from the Carocok Painan Beach Port by a boat that is readily available for visitors. On the island, upon which lush trees grow, tourists can usually can be found swimming, snorkeling or hopping on and off speed boats and banana boats. (vit/kes)
