was invited to be one of the speakers at a panel discussion titled “Digital Economy for All” held as part of the events during the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group in Nusa Dua, Bali, recently.
The closed-door session setup was purposely crafted to encourage participants to be open, forward and upfront. As I took my seat, my eyes went around the room and noticed the caliber of individuals. I was about to speak alongside Indonesia’s Communications and Information Minister Rudiantara, the CEO of Ant Financial Eric Jing and the World Bank’s COO Stephanie von Friedeburg. I quickly scanned the participants and noticed that they were mostly ministers and central bank governors from various countries.
I felt honored to be there. Yet, my topic was not exactly too confidential and hence I can share it here with you. My topic was, “How Bukalapak helps Indonesia reduce inequalities through many initiatives”.
This is also something that the Indonesian government is trying to push. Let me try to dissect each aspect and elaborate on the contribution that Bukalapak can offer at every single step:
