he bodies of six Indonesian sailors who were among the victims of a recent ship sinking in the Bering Sea have been recovered, Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said on Wednesday.
Search and rescue teams had previously rescued eight sailors, including three Indonesians from a South Korean fishing vessel, the Oryong 501, that sank in heavy seas in the freezing waters of the western Bering Sea, Russia.
'One hour ago, I received information from the company that owned the vessel that apart from the three survivors, six Indonesian sailors had died and the identification of the bodies is ongoing,' she told the press on Wednesday at the State Palace.
The Oryong 501 ship sank in the Bering Sea on Monday at around 12 p.m. It had a crew of 60 on board, including 35 Indonesians. The rest of the crew came from South Korea, the Philippines and Russia, according to the ministry. (***)
