The biggest football competition in Indonesia, Liga 1, has entered its fourth week since the first kick-off on Aug. 27.
After a hiatus lasting more than 500 days, the competition has finally got permission to proceed after being verified to have fulfilled the health protocol requirements based on evaluations of the previous three inaugural matches.
The decision to restart Liga1 was made over a series of strict health rules and protocols implemented by PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) as the operator and supervised by the central government.
The standard health protocol made by the Soccer Association of Indonesia (PSSI) regarding the implementation of the Liga 1 competition, which was adapted from various references such as FIFA and the WHO, must be carried out properly.
Rentokil Initial Indonesia, as a pest control and professional hygiene service provider in collaboration with PT Sportindo Investama Indonesia, has the opportunity to carry out the task of providing high-level hygiene services at every match.
Prior to every match, disinfectant should be sprayed at critical touch points and high traffic areas, such as the stadium entrance hall, changing rooms, press conference rooms, VVIP box, football team buses, as well as the four corner poles and goal posts in each stadium.
To ensure that the room is free from harmful viruses, Rentokil Initial Indonesia is also placing hand sanitizer at strategic locations such as stadium hallways, VIP seating, press conference rooms, and the side of the coach and player bench area on the sidelines.
During the pandemic, football competitions will implement new regulatory guidelines such as health protocols, performing matches without spectators and evaluating the course of each match. All of these procedures need to be complied with in order to prevent COVID-19 transmission and a virus cluster at one of the stadiums.
Taking reference from football competitions in Europe and our neighbouring countries that have been held during the pandemic, Rentokil Initial Indonesia managing director Heri Susanto believes the Liga 1 competition will run smoothly. "Of course, we will also support the implementation of our homeland football matches so they run well in accordance with our mission of protecting people in the field of sports," he said.
