he first and largest wheat flour producer in Indonesia, Bogasari Group, a subsidiary of PT Indofood Sukses Makmur, turns 50 on Monday (29/11/2021). Bogasari has grown and developed with the Indonesian people from generation to generation for five decades, consistently feeding the people with high nutritional food ingredients.
To celebrate this milestone, Bogasari will present its Virtual Bogasari Expo (Bogex), with the theme “Unleash the Bikiners”. This year's Bogex can be attended by all levels of society from various regions and will take place from December 2021 to March 2022. The annual event is aimed to provide entertainment and knowledge to the public, fostering new foodpreneurs through their many unique and innovative creations.
The company invites MSME players, the culinary industry, Indonesian families and the younger generation to take part as “Bikiners”. #BikinSemuaBisa is an activity to make new, out of the box, culinary creations using flour as their main ingredient. Bogasari hopes that through this challenge, Bogex can provide a different experience to the community and motivate the younger generation to unleash their creativity, to make something new using something so simple to enliven the Indonesian culinary industry.
“We invite MSME actors, the culinary industry, Indonesian families and the younger generation to work together to move forward to face a future full of new opportunities. We see that the flour-based food business is growing rapidly, supported by the presence of digital transformation and the great potential of the younger generation. Let's take this moment to learn, improve skills, develop potential and prepare ourselves to become a generation that can advance our culinary industry," said Franciscus Welirang, director of PT Indofood Sukses Makmur and head of the Bogasari Group.
"We hope the virtual Bogasari Expo #BikinSemuaBisa can be a source of inspiration and stimulate the creativity of the younger generation as young foodpreneurs in the future,” said Bogasari Group's senior vice president of marketing, Ivo Ariawan. He further explained, “According to Bappenas, Indonesia's demographic bonus is estimated to occur in 2030 where the productive age population could reach 64 percent of the total population of around 297 million people. We want to be present as part of this golden generation and support them in building our culinary industry, specifically in the global arena.”
To highlight the potential of the golden generation, the company presents a series of activities, such as the Bogasari Creation Competition, panel talks, cooking and baking classes. They are also giving awards to MSMEs that can serve as role models for the Indonesian people to succeed in building sustainable businesses.
Bogasari opened its first factory in Tanjung Priok in North Jakarta on Nov. 29, 1971. In July 1972, it established its second factory in Tanjung Perak in Surabaya. This was then followed by its factory in Tangerang in 2015 and Bekasi in 2016. Bogasari has been the leading producer of wheat flour in Indonesia for 50 years.
