he Great Steak Escape, organized by Meat & Livestock Australia’s (MLA) True Aussie Beef & Lamb, returns for the second time to invite Indonesian consumers on an “escape” to explore the delicacy of different cuts of Australian beef, prepared with a variety of cooking methods and styles.
Taking place from March 1 to 31, The Great Steak Escape will showcase the premium taste, quality and nutrition of Australian beef as prepared by 24 Executive Chefs from premier restaurants in Jakarta. Foodies and aficionados alike will be able to enjoy a wide range of interesting menu items made with unique cuts of beef, such as Chuck, Rump Cap and Blade that will surely spoil meat lovers.
One of the participating chefs is Rizky Apriliana – commonly known as Chef Kiki – the Chef de Cuisine of PA.SO.LA Restaurant at The Ritz-Carlton Jakarta, Pacific Place.
In her current role, she has contributed to the overall success of PA.SO.LA Restaurant, including helping it win the Travelers’ Choice Award as well as TripAdvisor’s Number One Restaurant in Jakarta certification consecutively for 2020 and 2021. Chef Kiki herself has been named the winner of the annual Best Employee Five-Star award, along with the annual Leader award, which were presented in 2014 and 2019, respectively.
Rizky’s passion lies in the development of classic Indonesian cuisine while taking pride in contemporary plating presentations. For The Great Steak Escape, she will be presenting the Australian Angus Beef Tenderloin with Lobi-lobi Glaze, Potato Puree and Pelawan Mushroom Sauce.
True to its name, The Great Steak Escape provides a global dining experience through partner restaurants and carefully selected menu items. Throughout the month, visitors will be able to try beef dishes that include Wagyu Paella, Wagyu Rump Bites with Truffle Vinaigrette and Garlic Chips, Australian Picanha & Prime Top Sirloin in Brazilian BBQ style and the Japanese dish Chuck Eye Roll Yakiniku, among others.
MLA Indonesia Business Development Manager Christian Haryanto said the event invited Indonesians to explore various cuts of Australian beef outside of the more popular cuts such as Sirloin and Tenderloin, highlighting other, lesser-known cuts of meat that are no less delicious.
“We hope to provide consumers with new knowledge on different cuts of meat and create extraordinary days full of pleasure for foodies when they consume high-quality meat,” he said.
Alongside providing an enjoyable experience for meat lovers, MLA also hopes to demonstrate its strong commitment to and support for the food service industry, which is slowly recovering from the devastating impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
While consumers are still wary of choosing to eat out because of social restrictions and the emergence of new COVID-19 variants, MLA is working with the food service industry to work together to showcase the diversity and delicacy of Australian beef to entice consumers to revisit their favorite restaurants and explore new spots. In this regard, The Great Steak Escape seeks to contribute to the recovery of the food service industry.
With Australia reopening its doors to the international community, Tourism Australia Indonesia Country Manager Agitya Nuraini invites Indonesians to witness firsthand Australia's vast and beautiful landscape along with its friendly and laid-back culture.
“Enjoy Australian culinary delights made from high-quality fresh ingredients cultivated from an extraordinary landscape, and of course produced by experts in their fields. "With the reopening of the border, we hope that Indonesian tourists will also be able to return to Australia soon and enjoy delicious Australian beef both in the comfort of their own homes, as well as in an authentic dining experience in Australia," Christian concluded.
