resident Joko “Jokowi” Widodo is calling on global business leaders to invest in Indonesia, leveraging its robust economic growth amid global economic uncertainty.
During the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit in the United States city of San Francisco, Jokowi emphasized the country’s abundant natural resources, demographic advantages, vast market as well as a stable economic and political landscape.
He also highlighted the government’s resolute commitment to fostering a competitive and accommodating investment climate.
“This is the right moment to invest in Indonesia, and I encourage you all to seize that opportunity with greater agility and promptness,” the President stated on Thursday.
Renewable energy and the downstreaming industry are among strategic sectors ripe for investment, Jokowi said, touting the country’s status as the largest holder of nickel reserves globally along with other critical minerals.
The government had long been determined to become a key player in the fast-emerging electric vehicle (EV) sector, aiming to produce 600,000 EVs by 2030, with plans kicking off as early as next year.
“We have proactively prepared an array of incentives and facilities. I hereby urge businesses to take a larger part within the [downstream industry] sector,” he said.
