hateraise, one of Japan’s largest patisserie brands, has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding its presence in Indonesia with plans to build a second factory in Bekasi, West Java, according to Investment and Downstream Minister Rosan Roeslani.

In a statement shared on his official Instagram account on Saturday, Rosan emphasized the company’s dedication to supporting Indonesia’s downstreaming initiatives by sourcing local raw materials, such as cacao and cassava.

Founded in 1954, Chateraise has grown into a global powerhouse, operating more than 1,000 stores across nine countries as of April last year.

The brand entered the Indonesian market in 2017 through a joint venture with local conglomerate Gobel Group under banner PT Chateraise Gobel Indonesia.

By 2022, the joint venture also built its first Indonesian factory in Bogor, West Java, worth Rp 60 billion (US$3.67 million). This facility, operated by PT Chateraise Indonesia Manufacturing, was its second overseas factory after the one in the Netherlands.

“The construction of the new factory is expected to make our products more affordable and accessible to more consumers. We can now reduce the price range of our products to below Rp 15,000, down from the previous Rp 25,000,” said Regi Datau, director of PT Chateraise Indonesia Manufacturing, in 2022, as quoted by Bisnis.
