The festival is back for the first time in two years at the Senayan City shopping mall in Jakarta.
The Harper’s Bazaar Fashion Festival has returned after nearly two years off as a result of the pandemic.
The event is taking place at the Senayan City shopping mall until Sunday, showcasing the work of Indonesian designers such as Obin, Sapto Djojokartiko, Puspita, Tangan, Toton, Ghea Panggabean and Hian Tjen.
"It's been a blessing for the team and me to showcase the pieces that I've been working on," said Obin, the designer behind BIN House, at the opening of the festival on Friday. "I hope you enjoy the show."
Her fashion show marked the beginning of the event, which will showcase a variety of designs, from traditional batik garments to more contemporary sartorial statements.
"The festival also represents the revival of the fashion festival in Indonesia," said Asteria Elanda, the head of public relations at MRA Media.
"We’re also working with other local concept stores like The Good Things and Sonderlab to be able to support local brands," she added.
Ria Lirungan, editor in chief of Harper's Bazaar Indonesia, added that the event aimed to invite young people to explore the country’s fashion world further.
"There are some collaborations that fashion communities can look forward to, like Sapto Djojokartiko’s collaboration with The Good Things and Adrian Gan with Sonderlab," Ria said.
