Critical Issues
Critical Issues EP
Buy: disasterposse.com
Palembang, South Sumatra, hardcore-band Critical Issues’ debut release is an eight-song hardcore blast of intense emotionality and syncopated rhythms. Led by local underground figure Farid “Rian Pelor” Amriansyah, the band’s self-titled extended play (EP -- the eight songs are very short) brims with cerebral sociopolitically conscious lyrics and crisp production. Standouts like "Plague Years" and "Hostile Takeover" are not about being sonically revolutionary, but their take elements of D-beat hardcore and first-wave emo music to make a very catchy experience that does not come too often locally.
