Lexus Feast serves luxury marque’s first exclusive luncheon, highlighting sustainable, natural resources.
Luxury vehicle company Lexus hosted its first-ever exclusive lunch experience that highlighted its luxurious and eco-friendly cars on Dec. 9 at the Immersion by Lexus, a Lexus Brand Space at Astra Tower, Jl. Sudirman, Central Jakarta.
With an eco-friendly theme, Lexus Feast presented a series of dishes made of natural resources, inspired by omotenashi, the Japanese philosophy that highlights mindfulness in hospitality. The Jakarta Post joined the exclusive luncheon along with other media outlets and Lexus dealers.
For appetizers, the chefs from Bali-based restaurant Locavore served local sea urchins and green herbs in a brioche bun, labeled as a zero-waste dish for its maximum use of every ingredient. The dishes hinted at the company’s effort to create zero emissions through electrification technology.
Slow-roasted watermelon was then served with tomato dashi and savory, black garlic caramel, reflecting the company’s push to provide less meat to create a more sustainable future, part of Lexus’ green initiatives.
The theme continued with roasted green vegetables with fermented cashew crème and the prestigious-looking fish and scallops dish, which was tinted with light blue dressing from spirulina, an algae known for its high protein and electric blue color. The ingredients Locavore picked were all local and foraged from Indonesian nature.
The main dish of the afternoon was wagyu beef cheek and sirloin, combined with cooked carrot flower. The beef and carrot, which was said to represent power and efficiency respectively, reflected two of the main principles of Lexus’ fuel-efficient cars.
“Lexus is a luxury car brand, but we also have the vision to be an aspirational brand in the Indonesian luxury lifestyle industry,” Anton Jimmi Suwandy, marketing director of Toyota Astra Motor, said during the luncheon. The Japanese automotive company Toyota is Lexus’ parent company.
All the dishes served at the Lexus Feast were designed to explain the inspiration behind Lexus Electrified, the brand’s electric vehicles. Lexus first introduced its hybrid, luxury electric vehicles in 2006.
“For dozens of years, Lexus Indonesia has always aimed to be a pioneer in the mobility world that is more electrified, environmentally friendly and continues to produce innovation to achieve carbon neutrality,” Anton added.
