With '13 Bombs in Jakarta', Angga Dwimas Sasongko pursues a bigger, bolder action odyssey Buzz bomb: Directed and co-written by Angga Dwimas Sasongko, the action flick 13 Bombs in Jakarta premieres in Indonesian theaters on Dec. 28, 2023. Angga Dwimas Sasongko can’t resist pushing the envelope.

Time and time again, the film director and screenwriter has ventured into uncharted artistic territory.

With 2020's One Day We'll Talk About Today, he showed for the first time how a flash fiction novel could transform into bankable cinema. With 2022's Stealing Raden Saleh, he challenged the capacity of the Indonesian film industry by dishing up a jaw-dropping heist film.

This year's 13 Bom Di Jakarta (13 Bombs in Jakarta) is a whole new ball game for Angga. For his latest project, he was keen to develop the picture exactly as it had been billed since October: the year's biggest action flick. The production was both ambitious and meticulous – so much so that Angga also served as the action coordinator of the project.

He did not hold back in casting either, as he recruited some of the most noted actors in the game, to name a few: Ganindra Bimo (Jakarta, City of Dreamers), Putri Ayudya (Homecoming), Chicco Kurniawan (Photocopier), Lutesha (The Big 4), Ardhito Pramono (Story of Kale: When Someone's in Love), Rio Dewanto (Letters from Prague) and Rukman Rosadi (Autobiography).

On Dec. 13, The Jakarta Post had a sit-down with Angga, Bimo and Putri as they discussed their latest project.
