n a village in Sidoarjo, East Java, children run and laugh with their friends far away from their smartphones and laptop screens. Such is the gadget-free reality of Kampung Lali Gadget, whose name roughly translates to “the village where gadgets are forgotten”.
The makeshift village is the brainchild of Achmad Irfandi, a youth concerned with the intensity of gadget usage among children in his region. His success led Achmad to become an awardee of the 12th SATU Indonesia Awards 2021 in the Education Category.
Other awardees include Siti Salamah, a winner at the 12th SATU Indonesia Awards 2021 in the Group Category. Together with her colleagues, Siti Salamah established the Waste Solution Hub, an integrated waste management company that directly connects waste producers and waste banks while socially empowering waste pickers.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Zidny Kafa was a winner at the 12th SATU Indonesia Awards 2021 in the Humanitarian Category for his success in suppressing the number of COVID-19 cases in Panggungharjo, Bantul, DI Yogyakarta. He and his team built the Panggung Tanggap COVID-19 movement that utilizes online resources. They also helped the community in Panggungharjo through economic and social difficulties throughout the pandemic.
The SATU Indonesia Awards, now in its 13th year, proves Astra's commitment to serving the nation as part of its signature Catur Dharma philosophy. The awards are also in line with Astra's goal of inviting the Indonesian community to move passionately (Semangat Bergerak) and grow together (Tumbuh Bersama).
This year, the 13th SATU Indonesia Awards is inviting outstanding youths to showcase their achievements in five categories: Health, Education, Environment, Entrepreneurship and Technology. In its virtual kick-off ceremony, Astra launched the SATU Indonesian Awards e-book to showcase the achievements of its awardees throughout the year. They also invited past awardees including Achmad Irfandi, Siti Salamah and Muhammad Zidny Kafa as speakers.
Also attending was the panel of judges of the 13th SATU Indonesia Awards 2022, including Prof. Nina Moeloek, a lecturer of the School of Medicine at Universitas Indonesia; Prof. Emil Salim, a lecturer of the Graduate School of Environmental Studies at Universitas Indonesia; Prof. Fasil Jalal, rector of Universitas YARSI and professor of the Graduate School at Universitas Negeri Jakarta; Ir. Tri Mumpuni, founder of the People Centered Business and Economic Institute (IBEKA); Onno W. Purbo, Ph.D., an expert in information technology; Arif Zulkifli, president director of PT Tempo Inti Media; Billy Boen, founder of Young on Top; and renowned actress Dian Sastrowardoyo. Also on the list are Boy Kelana Soebroto, head of corporate communications at Astra and Diah Suran Febrianti, head of environment & social responsibility at Astra.
For the 13th SATU Indonesia Awards 2022, Astra will partner with media outlets Tempo, Antara, Kumparan, IDN Times and Young on Top.
Winners of the national awards will receive funding of Rp 65 million and program coaching. Candidates are welcome to submit their entries from March 9 to August 9, 2022. Below are the terms and conditions for interested youths looking to apply:
