ndonesia’s rapidly growing digital traffic, a result of the surge in digital transactions, information technology (IT) systems and digital content during the global pandemic, has prompted NTT Ltd., a global IT infrastructure and services company based in Tokyo, to open Jakarta 3 Data Center.
Opened officially on Thursday, NTT’s largest data center in Indonesia is located in Bekasi, West Java, about 30 kilometers from the heart of Jakarta,.
The four-story, well-equipped Jakarta 3 offers scalable capacity that is designed to meet the requirements of hyperscale technology companies and high-end enterprises to support Indonesia’s growing digital economy.
Demand for hyperscale data centers in Indonesia is likely to continue increasing, partly due to the rapid growth of local start-ups and the ever-increasing population.
“The demand for data storage and managed hosting services is expected to grow dramatically across Indonesia. The Jakarta 3 Data Center will accommodate the needs of clients, particularly cloud service providers and the financial industry, which require flexible facility designs to help them achieve their business objectives,” NTT Indonesia president director Mizuho Tada said in a statement.
According to Tada, NTT Indonesia’s Jakarta 2 Data Center in Central Jakarta has already attracted many service and content providers.
“We can provide our local network services to and from our newly built Jakarta 3 Data Center. We hope to play a key role in providing vital data capacity at a high speed to keep Indonesia’s digital ecosystems and digital economy ticking,” he added.
Meanwhile, NTT Ltd. president and board director Masaaki Moribayashi said: “NTT views the Asia-Pacific as a key region, and Indonesia has become a strategic location with the new APRICOT submarine cable system.”
Moribayashi said the Jakarta 3 Data Center would drive business opportunities in Asia once the APRICOT system came online in 2024, linking all of NTT’s large-scale data centers in the region.
“Our continued commitment to Indonesia will help position NTT as a technologically innovative leader to address the industries of the future,” he noted.
Jakarta 3 has a 15.2 megawatt (MW) capacity for critical IT load that can expand to 45 MW, and boasts a Tier IV-ready compact and modular design to provide clients with flexible and scalable power.
It also boasts the most up-to-date monitoring system, guarded by multiple security tiers and a 3-meter anti-climbing perimeter fence, as well as a 24-7-365 monitoring team, working to ensure the stable operation of clients’ IT systems.
