aking part in the Ramadan spirit, CapitaLand Investment Limited’s wholly owned business unit The Ascott Limited (Ascott) distributed more than 2,000 boxes of takjil (breaking-of-the-fast snacks) to local communities surrounding Ascott’s network of hotels and serviced residences across Indonesia.
Part of the Ascott Takes Part corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, the distribution took place on April 20 and involved the entirety of Ascott’s network, with the takjil made in-house at restaurant outlets in Ascott properties. Eligible recipients include communities in high-density areas, orphanages, as well as becak (pedicab) communities.
Philip Lim, country general manager of Ascott Indonesia for serviced residences, said that Ascott Indonesia welcomed the holy month of Ramadan by sharing joy and happiness.
“Ascott Takes Part is our annual Ramadan program, and more than 60 properties across 15 major Indonesian cities and regions — including Jakarta, Bandung [West Java], Yogyakarta, Surabaya [East Java], Semarang [Central Java], Bali and Batam [Riau Islands] — took part in this year’s iteration,” he said.
Patrick Vaysse, chief operating officer Ascott Indonesia for hotels, said this year marked the first time the network of hotels — previously under TAUZIA International Management — had joined the annual Ramadan CSR initiative.
“Through the integration, we can widen the reach of our social initiatives together. More than 2,000 boxes of takjil have been distributed, and more than 280 participants including hotel management and employees took part in the event,” he said.
Ten Ascott properties located in Bali took part in the initiative this year, including Maison Aurelia Sanur by Preference, HARRIS Hotel Kuta Tuban, HARRIS Hotel & Residences Sunsetroad, Hotel & Residences Riverview Kuta Bali, HARRIS Hotel Seminyak, HARRISPOP Denpasar, FOX Hotel Jimbaran Beach Bali, YELLO Hotel Kuta Beachwalk, POP! Hotel Teuku Umar and POP! Hotel Kuta Beach.
Ascott Regional Bali in collaboration with ActiveWater distributed 250 takjil boxes to vulnerable communities around Jl. Nakuta, Sunset Star Kuta.
