The Health Ministry leads the 15th ASEAN Health Ministers Meeting (AHMM) in Nusa Dua, Bali, from May 11-15.
Generally, the event consists of two main sessions: the Senior Officials Meeting on Health Development (SOMHD) led by secretary-general of MoH, Kunta Wibawa Nugraha; and the ASEAN Health Ministers Meeting (AHMM), which will be led directly by the Republic of Indonesia’s Health Minister, Budi Gunadi Sadikin.
Participants in the meeting include the health minister and senior officials from 10 ASEAN member countries, plus three countries (RRT, Japan and Korea); the United States; the regional director of WHO for SEARO and WPRO; and the secretary-general of ASEAN.
Expected participants in total are about 250 people, comprising 150 foreign participants, 100 domestic participants and the committee.
The SOMHD will have 5 side events: the ASEAN Aerobic Fun Dance led by Indonesia; the ASEAN Food and Nutrition Security Report and Guidelines and Minimum Standards for the Protection, Promotion and Support of Breastfeeding and Complementary Feeding led by Philippines; a workshop on Integrating Mental Health into Primary and Secondary Level of Healthcare in ASEAN member states led by Indonesia; a workshop on Sharing of Experience on Nutrition in Emergencies (NIE) in ASEAN member states led by Indonesia; and ASEAN Smoke Free Awards Launching and Forum led by Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR).
Additionally, the AHMM will have two discussions: Topic for the Retreat: Mutual Recognition Arrangement on COVID-19 Health Certificates; and AHMM Plenary: Building Regional Health System Resilience and Accelerating COVID-19 Recovery.
The meeting is expected to produce: a mid-term assessment for the ASEAN Post-2015 Health Development Agenda (APHDA) 2016-2020, a strategic framework for APHDA, the program for APHDA 2021-2025, the development of the Knowledge Management Platform, ASEAN Fun Aerobic Dance (AFAD), the ASEAN Health Protocol, the ASEAN Cross-Border Contact Tracing Protocol and Joint Outbreak Investigation and a declaration of ASEAN leaders on Reformulation and Production of Healthier Food and Beverage Options.
