Menya Kenji introduces authentic Japanese ramen

M

enya Kenji, which opened its flagship Bali outlet on Jl. Pantai Berawa in Badung in May, is an authentic Japanese ramen eatery offering homemade noodles and signature broth.

“With recipes originating from Fukuoka, Menya Kenji’s team of chefs bring the utmost care and attention to the process of creating its signature chicken and pork broth, freshly made daily with the finest locally sourced ingredients, no artificial flavors and using a low and slow cooking method, taking up to eight hours in the making,” Menya Kenji said in a statement.

Menya Kenji offers four distinct ramen varieties: Curry Ramen, Dan Dan Men and Kara Kara Men.

Aside from its tasty, feel-good ramen dishes, Menya Kenji also offers a variety of Japanese comfort foods, such as Chashu Don, featuring slices of juicy pork or chicken chashu on steamed rice served with homemade donburi sauce, onion sauce and cabbage.

Other favorites include Curry Rice, traditional Japanese curry cooked with chicken broth, carrots, potatoes, onion and served on steamed rice with a choice of Pork Menchi Katsu (breaded ground pork patty), Chicken Menchi Katsu (breaded ground chicken patty) or Chicken Karaage (deep-fried battered, marinated chicken).

Diners looking for greener and healthier options can choose from Wakame Salad and Sesame Salad.

Menya Kenji is open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. with meals averaging Rp 100,000 per person including drinks, subject to 10 percent tax and a 7 percent service charge.

Due to high demand from the resort island’s vegan community, the noodle specialty restaurant is currently developing a vegan version of its soulful ramen dishes, to be available in the coming months.
