The Westin Resort Nusa Dua hires new executive chef

The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali said that Chef Matthias “Matt” Mittnacht would lead its culinary team as of May.

Chef Matt will take on the role of executive chef and will also take charge of the island's pride, Bali International Convention Centre (BICC), and continue to deliver inspiring yet flawless catering services for all participants, the resort said in a statement.

“With the opening of borders in Bali and the revival of Bali tourism, The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali continues to present inspiring programs, one of which is the Eat Well pillar,” said Oriol Montal, general manager of The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali.

“Chef Matthias’ arrival will bring the Resort’s culinary positioning to another level, as he and his team will present creative offerings and continue the resort’s tradition as a leading culinary destination,” he said.

Chef Matt was born into hospitality.  His parents owned a small hotel and two restaurants in Bavaria, Germany.

This set the stage for his later culinary journey from a Michelin Star restaurant in Spain to luxury hotels in Switzerland, before achieving his master's degree in culinary arts by age 25.

Inspired by Bangkok’s unlimited culinary delights and eight years working in big city hotels, chef Matt feels it is time to move on to providing physical well-being through his culinary expertise, matching the philosophy and aim of The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali’s wellbeing DNA.

With his array of culinary experiences, chef Matt possesses a high level of expertise in lifestyle hospitality, project management, talent development and innovative food concepts, and will be an exciting addition to the six pillars of Westin Wellbeing, specifically the Eat Well pillar.
