Maybank Indonesia ready to run 2022 Marathon

P

T Bank Maybank Indonesia, Tbk. has set a date for its annual Maybank Marathon. This year, the activity will take place on Aug. 28, with its staring line located in Bali Safari & Marine Park, in the island’s Gianyar area.

“We are ready to host the Maybank Marathon 2022 and are excited to welcome runners to compete at our event, in Bali at the end of this August,” announced Widya Permana, project director of Maybank Marathon. “Since the Maybank Marathon 2022 event was announced at the end of March, the Organizing Committee has carried out a series of preparations, including running routes, preparation of personnel and medical facilities as well as other supporting facilities to securely support the smooth running of the Maybank Marathon 2022 on Aug. 28. In organizing the Maybank Marathon, the safety and security of all running participants is our priority.”

This year, 118 lucky attendees will have the opportunity to receive a total incentive of Rp 2.4 billion to be shared among all. The committee revealed that some 10,000 participants in the three categories have signed up, ranging from Marathon (42.195 km) and Half Marathon (21.0975 km), to the 10K categories. In addition, the Maybank Marathon will also have competitions in additional categories for children (children’s Sprint) and wheelchair participants. While most participants are local runners from Indonesia, the marathon also welcomes visitors from Malaysia, Japan, Singapore, Australia, the United Kingdom and more.

As the first and only marathon event in Indonesia with the “Elite” label from the world athletic body, World Athletics (WA), Maybank Indonesia ensures that all aspects of organizing the Elite Maybank Marathon 2022 have met the standards and requirements set by the governing body, including the involvement of major international athletes.

In accordance with international standards, the track route has been certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) and WA, previously known as the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). Route measurements are also carried out by the International Measurement Administrator who holds a Grade A IAAF-AIMS course measurer.

Prior to the big day, participants will be able to pick up the required nametags etc. during the Race Pack Collection (RPC) on Aug. 26 and 27 in Taman Bhagawan, Benoa. For safety and security reasons, Maybank Indonesia enforces the “You Register, You Run” regulation, which requires all participants to collect the race pack according to their registered name, and are only eligible to run in the categories selected according to registration. Representations for attendants will not be permitted.

“In the spirit of a decade of Maybank Marathon 2022, we will package the RPC into an entertainment festival that will be enlivened by well-known Indonesian artists, as well as an exhibition of Maybank Indonesia's sustainability program. In addition, we will also implement a payment system using QRIS, which is available on the M2U digital banking application for participants to buy various well-known products from our sponsors,” added Widya.

Maybank Marathon will adhere to government regulations regarding the organization of outdoor events. All participants must have received at least a third vaccine (booster), and must scan the PeduliLindung application before entering the RPC or Race Village. In addition, participants are also required to implement health protocols, such as using masks, hand sanitizer and maintain distance during the event.
